The Industries and Mineral Development Department, ICT is responsible for the implementation of following laws in the Islamabad Capital Territory:

  • The West Pakistan Industrial (Control on Establishment and Enlargement) Ordinance, 1963
  • The Regulation of Mines and Oil-Field and Mineral Development (Government Control) Act, 1948
  • The Pakistan Mining Concession Rules, 1960
  • Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration & Control) Ordinance, 1961
  • Societies Registration Act, 1860
  • Partnership Act, 1932

The Functions / Charter of duties of the Industries and Mineral Development Department, ICT are as under:

  • Development work relating to Industries
  • Grant of prospecting licenses and mining lease
  • Registration of Firms, Charitable Societies and Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (NGOs / NPOs)
  • Monitoring and Evaluation of NGOs / NPOs
  • Recommendation of NGOs / NPOs to funding agencies
