Women Development Wing

The Women Programme Officer, ICT has established 08 multi-purpose Women Community Centers in order to train women of rural areas of Islamabad by adopting diversified and multi-dimensional strategy. Beneficries of these centers include women and children besides male & female youth of the rural areas of ICT. The successfull initiatives of the department resulted in:

    Fisheries Department, ICT is a well established nation building department mandated to develope and conserve fish culture activities in Islamabad Capital Territory.

    Objectives and Functions

    • Development of fisheries in water reservoirs of ICT i.e. Rawal Dam, Simly Dam, M-I, M-II and Kurrang Sohan River
    • Promotion of fish culture in Government and Private sector
    • To control illegal fishing in the water reserviors of Islamabad
    • Auction of fishing rights of public water i.e commercial fishing

    Soil Conservation Department

    Soil Conservation Department, ICT is responsible for the protection and improvement of agricultural land by providing the machinery i.e bulldozers, rig machine, tractors and laser land leveler on subsidized rates to the farmers. The department also provides 85% subsidy to the farmers of Islamabad under the development schemes.

    • Reclamation and rehabilitation of eroded land with proper cost and economic feasibility of operation
    • Maintenance of soil fertility
    • Protection of land against erosion
    • Minimization of soil loss due to erosion

    Water Management Department

    Water Management Department is one of the major driving force for transforming the rain feed agriculture into a science based, vibrant irrigated agriculture in ICT. The department aims to maximize crop and water productivity by ensuring efficient conveyance, application and use of irrigation water viz-a-viz promoting water management interventions through user participation.

    Objectives & Functions

    • Utilization & Development of surface & ground water potential of the rural areas of ICT.
    • Conversion of Barani Land into irrigated land through installation of water conveyance network and Construction of storage tanks.
    • Provision of technical services for Operation & Maintenance of the schemes.
    • Increase in Water Productivity and change in cropping pattern of the area.
    • Efficient management of Water at Farm Level.

    Livestock & Dairy Development

    Livestock and Dairy Development Department, ICT is responsible for provision of veterinary healthcare and artificial insemination services in Islamabad through 04 Veterinary Hospitals and 09 Veterinary Centers as well as Daily Mobile Livestock Free Camps at the farmers doorsteps.

    Objectives & Functions

    • Provision of Artificial Insemination Services to undertake genetic up gradation of the production potential of existing livestock
    • Motivation of the farmers for improvement of Livestock management practices to facilitate enhancement of profitability in livestock farming
    • Preparation and execution of need based development schemes aimed at strengthening of the Veterinary Healthcare as well as Breed Improvement Services
    • Awareness campaigns aimed at educating livestock farmers
    • Collaboration with National / International Institutions e.g FAO, NARC, NRSP rtc, to organize livestock training programs , so as to control and contain the Non-contagious as well as contagious Disease like Rinderpest, Avian Influenza, FMD etc

    Agriculture Department

    The Agriculture Department was established in 1981 to undertake the assignment of agriculture extension services to the forming community of ICT.
